How do I ask a specific group of users a questions?

Viewed 230

I would like to notify a group of users when a question is asked of them. It would be useful in online classroom scenarios where students might want questions to be answered by a group of instructors.

Also in a similar fashion, students might want to ask instuctors private questions (about grades and stuff).

This feature will open Apache Answers to be used in multiple scenarios and use cases where AI generated answers are not an option. I would recommend Apache Answers to implement this feature to stand-out from the rest of AI based chatbots and websites to distinctly postion Apache Answers to cater to the needs of users who are not looking for AI generated answers.

This feature might have the following functionalities:

  1. Public Groups to be implemented as a core feature of Apache Answers with a hierarchical structure for organization to enable creation of child groups within a parent group. The level of hierarchy can be limited between 3 and 5 levels deep to avoid drilling down to multiple levels of complexity.
  2. Root Parent Groups can only be created by the owner or a server administrator.
  3. Child groups can be created by the parent group admin.
  4. Anyone who are supposed to be the members of the group can sign up as a member of the available public groups with an identifying document, and the registration would be approved only by the owner, server admin, or group admins.
  5. Any user can ask questions directly to a group, which can only be answered by a member within the group. However, all users would be able to see both the question asked and the answer given, and give a thumbs-up for the question to motivate group members to answer most wanted questions first.
  6. A dedicated sub-domain or a directory path in the url will show the list of all available groups and sub-groups, with the members in them so that users can ask their questions to the relevant sub-group.

This might be a big feature to implement, and so we can expect community contribution if the core team finds this valuable for the future evolution of the Apache Answers platform. Happy to contribute technically if this sparks interest.
